* habotai silk 5 m/m (air weight) & 8 m/m (water weight) silks dyes & instructions provided


*Students have a choice between 5 m/m or 8 m/m 
"8 m/m (heavier silk) with a surcharge of 15$

• • • These “Veils” can be used for dancing or fashion. Great for adults and kids! No previous experience necessary.• • • 

*You can also cut your meters down to 2-3 smaller scarves!
* Choose from a variety of colors to work with. 
* Learn about creating patterns and layers
* Habotai silk (air or water weight), dyes, instructions and a place to make a mess provided 

***Note: Silk dyeing classes are one where you have a 98% chance of getting dye on your clothes, so please dress accordingly. Plan to get messy! (cheap clothes that you don’t mind the colours changing and some cheap sandals or flip-flops so your feet don’t end up pretty colours too!)

It includes all materials needed to make a 2 yard silk.

3 yards silk - $130.00 +gst 
* 8 m/m (water weight $142.00 +gst) 

4 yards silk - $145.00 +gst 
* 8 m/m (water weight $164.00 +gst)

Pre-hemmed scarves available at Artist Emporium

$15.00/yard extra for each additional 5 m/m yard of silk over 4 yards

$22.00/yard extra for each additional 8 m/m yard of silk over 4 yards


**Fees include all materials needed to make a 2 yard silk.
Fees cover cost of Instructor, professional dyes, urea, soda ash soak, silk (5 m/m (air weight) or 8 m/m (water weight)), gloves and other miscellaneous materials needed as well as printed instructions.

NOTES
--------------------
**All silk can be cut into smaller pieces to make multiple smaller works in the class (for example you can get two 22 x 72" scarves from a 2 yard silk)

Students may want to bring:
* a package of PLASTIC clothing clips (1 pkg small clips and 1 pkg of larger ones)
* a needle with a large thread whole and a pack of dental floss to try certain designs
* simple mask if you have allergy problems
* your own gloves if you are allergic to latex

*** these items are usually available at dollar stores for 1$ a pkg


• • Instruction is mainly in English (limited Korean and German translation available)

• • Students will be provided with all basic materials and tools. All materials are provided for in the workshop fee.

• • The workshops will be limited to 12 students, so RSVP as soon as possible. 

• • Minimum age is 10 years. All minors must be accompanied by a parent. (3 yard silk option must be purchased for this option an is shared by mom/dad and child)


*** if there is interest some specialty silks can be made available (pre-hemmed in various patterns/textures) 

I will also have some of the extra pre-hemmed textured and woven scarves, for those who would like to do some. these are a heavier silk. They are an extra addition to the basic 2 yards of silk in the workshop.
*** Extra pre-hemmed textured and woven scarves $40.00 extra for this workshop!





***Zahira SJ will also accept registrations for making silks to order. 
The Same restrictions apply. Silks can be picked up at the workshop or delivered.
